Sokoto State Government through State Malaria Elimination Agency and other development partners organized a sensitization campaign to mark 2021 Malaria Day in Sokoto.
Speaking at the occasion, the State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Muhammad Ali Inname describes “ZERO MALARIA - DRAW THE LINE AGAINST MALARIA” as this year’s theme which he said is achievable if we can all come together and work in fighting the menace collectively.
Inname thanked all the partners who are supporting the state in the fight which he describes as complementing effort of Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s administration. Sokoto state government has established Malaria Elimination Agency which is one of its kind in the whole country.
He also commends the scientists who recently developed the malaria vaccines which he said will go inline to fight and eradicate the malaria in the state and the country at large.
Earlier, the Special Adviser on Malaria Elimination, Abubakar Danlawan commends the State Governor, Hon. Commissioner, Development Partners and all relevant bodies for making the commemoration successful one.
Also in his remarks, the Director General, State Malaria Elimination Agency, Malam Muslim Gobir reminded the participants that April 25 of every year is a date set aside by the United Nation to commemorate the world Malaria day. He said the day is meant to create awareness and sensitize the general public and analyzed the effort made so far on the fight against Malaria.
He further stressed that fighting malaria requires multi sectoral, individual and group efforts to succeed. He finally commend the state government, state ministry of health, partners and all other relevant bodies and charged them to maintain the tempo.
Several goodwill messages have been observed from traditional institutions, religious institutions, students organization, BreakThrough Action, SSPHCD, HSMB, Malaria Consortium among others.
