He’s the simplest, kind and generous person I’ve ever known and If one is to have two fathers, Baba Barade would be my second father.
He is the type that can leave a plate of food for you when he’s hungry. He’s Muhammadu Maccido, born on November 15, 1963 in the royal house of the Seat of the Caliphate at Sifawa town of Bodinga LGA, a grandson of Sheikh Usmanu Bin Fodio that emits most of his traits.
Son of Aliyu Tambari and grandson of Buhari dan Shehu. Also the son of Goggo Halima (yar dubu) and grandson of Sultan Muhammadu Bello.
Turbaned as 5th Baraden Sokoto by Sultan Muhammadu Maccido on the 33rd Saturday of the year 1996. A title that was first conferred on Sultan Muhammadu Bello and succeeded by Sultan Ahmed Rufai, Malam Moyi Dan Bello and Sultan Ibrahim Dasuki respectively.
For over the two decades I have known him, he carries me just like his own blood child, listening and advising me on whatever I brought to him.
He has successfully undergone the complete circle of the civil service and rose from junior officer to acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior from 1982 to 2017 and contributed the best he could in Nation building.
He helps whenever he is opportune, assisting and helping people is what I can say he’s good at.
Served in various capacities during the time of his service. He was once Chief Adviser to the then Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau; Accounting Officer of the Ministry of Interior; representative of the Ministry in the NEMA board and also acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior.
He also served as a Director in different MDAs from Ministry of Mines & Steel Development to Federal Ministry of Youth Development to Federal Ministry of Women Affairs & Social Development to Federal Ministry of Trade & Investments to Office of the SGF to Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation to Police Service and also to the Ministry of Interior.
Studied Bachelors of Science in Accounting and also Masters in Business Administration at the Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto.
He was the first person to ever patronize and support my IT business; a software development company I established (Encrypted Shield Technologies) by awarding a contract for the digitization of his companies to me and of course left a steel mark on me.
He is a Fellow with various Institutions including Chartered Institute of Administration, Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria and Nigeria Institute of Management.
He’s the one I can proudly call a godfather, a selfless and supportive leader that would respect you even though he’s ahead of you by age and experience.
Dear Baba Barade, on the occasion of your 25th anniversary as the 5th Baraden Sokoto, I rejoice and celebrate with you and also pray for Allah’s endless blessings upon you. We appreciate you all the time.
